Ecstatic dance is a free-flow movement practice that incorporates music from all around the world into a wave of energy the rises and falls. Here we will open ourselves to feel what is real for us and express it without judgement.
Come co-create as we combine the dance of life with this fresh Mayan cacao just brought back from Guatemala. The ceremony will be lead, and the music-mix orchestrated, by Mat Chandler; who has been living in this ancient Central American heartland of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.

Tribal Fusion combines the techniques of American Tribal Style, Hip Hop, Classic Westernized dance, American Cabaret Bellydance and much more to create a style that is modern, serpentine, and smooth, Tribal Fusion Belly Dance also uses some of the same movement principles from traditional forms such as Flamenco, Kathak, Odissi, and other folkloric and classical dance styles. Start your tango journey with the UF Argentine Tango Club. You will be challenged to think and move using tango ideas with an engaging and diverse group. You will do individual exercises and partner activities to explore what tango is all about.
Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays with some exceptions so be sure to check each week.
Where: Most classes will be held in Dance Studio B, located in the basement of the Reitz Union. A few will be held in Studio A next door to B. So be sure to just check the schedule information at the door if you are unsure.
What to wear: If you own a pair of salsa shoes or jazz/ballet flats, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Fancy shoes are not necessary and please avoid flip flops or tennis shoes.

Nelson is a professional salsa dancer, currently living in Curacao. He is a Rhythm and Skill dancer focusing on the fundamentals of dancing. Nelson travels the world performing and choreographing some of the best Latin dance routine. His work speaks for itself.
Social dancing will begin immediately after the workshop. You are in for a fun night.

Start your tango journey with the UF Argentine Tango Club. You’ll be challenged to think and move using tango ideas with an engaging and diverse group. You will do individual exercises and partner activities to explore what tango is all about.
Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays during the Fall semester, with some exceptions so be sure to check each week.
Where: Most classes will be held in Dance Studio B, located in the basement of the Reitz Union. A few will be held in Studio A next door to B. So be sure to just check the schedule information at the door if you are unsure.
What to wear: If you own a pair of salsa shoes or jazz/ballet flats, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Fancy shoes are not necessary and please avoid flip flops or tennis shoes.

Sun 19 Jan, 10 am-6 pm. In its seventh year, the Florida Fun Mini Match competition stiffened in 2019, with almost 200% growth in competitor numbers from last year. Dancers of all ages competed in waltz, tango, foxtrot, salsa and two step from the early afternoon into the evening for a chance to be 1st place in their heat and win fabulous prizes. At the end of the night, there was a special performance by celebrity judges Ekaterina Derevleva and Aleksei Alekseev, complete with flashy costumes, fancy steps, and a buzzing flare all their own. The 2019 event was the most successful mini match to date, with over 275 attendees and over 140 heats.
We look forward to another great year in 2020. Proceeds benefit the Marion Therapeutic Riding Association and help to raise awareness for their services, possible through competitor and spectator attendance, event sponsors and donors to our silent auction. Waltz sessions are led by Patrick Harrigan, an adept in soft martial arts. Patrick has been doing cross-step waltz for the past six years and now also coaches individuals and couples, beginners and experienced waltzers alike, in the basics of cross-step waltz.

Start your tango journey with the UF Argentine Tango Club. You’ll be challenged to think and move using tango ideas with an engaging and diverse group. You will do individual exercises and partner activities to explore what tango is all about.
Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays during the Fall semester, with some exceptions so be sure to check each week.
Where: Most classes will be held in Dance Studio B, located in the basement of the Reitz Union. A few will be held in Studio A next door to B. So be sure to just check the schedule information at the door if you are unsure.

Waltz sessions are led by Patrick Harrigan, an adept in soft martial arts. Patrick has been doing cross-step waltz for the past six years and now also coaches individuals and couples, beginners and experienced waltzers alike, in the basics of cross-step waltz.

Start your tango journey with the UF Argentine Tango Club. You’ll be challenged to think and move using tango ideas with an engaging and diverse group. You will do individual exercises and partner activities to explore what tango is all about.
Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays during the Fall semester, with some exceptions so be sure to check each week.
Where: Most classes will be held in Dance Studio B, located in the basement of the Reitz Union. A few will be held in Studio A next door to B. So be sure to just check the schedule information at the door if you are unsure.
What to wear: If you own a pair of salsa shoes or jazz/ballet flats, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Fancy shoes are not necessary and please avoid flip flops or tennis shoes.

Fri 31 Jan, 7-11 pm. We are proud to announce the 3rd Annual Dancing Through the Decades. The 2020 event will be held at Valley View at Santa Fe River Ranch in Alachua, Florida. We had rave reviews and completely sold out of tickets last year, with many guests saying this was their favorite event of the year. We are also excited to bring back our incredible entertainment, The Fabulous Gemtones featuring Josie and Mikey.
While we have made great strides in our efforts supporting the UF Health Pals Thrive program, we feel more can be done to better serve the youth programs in our community. This year, in addition to the UF Health Pals Thrive Program, we will be supporting two additional charities: PACE Center for Girls and Aces in Motion! We have chosen these charities because both have unique and successful ways for reaching and assisting Gainesville’s youth.
